On a brightly inked poster, fluttering in the breeze, are emblazoned the following words:
“Calling all poets, story tellers, yarn spinners, musicians, jesters, dancers, actors and performers!
We invite you to attend the return of the weekly Story Circle by the lake in Redridge, at 7:30 in the evening every Saturday night.
All are welcome to attend, if you seek to dazzle or if you simply desire to listen to a tale or two – your presence is greatly encouraged and appreciated.
Food and Drink will be available but you are welcome to bring a hamper to share.
Those wishing to host or sponsor the weekly event to support a particular project or endeavor are to contact the organizer (Fiha Endrill Quel’Dhanar) as soon as possible.”
The poster is tacked neatly amongst the array of questionable advertising for various flasks and potions offering curious enhancements, jousting matches and old faded menus from ‘the dungeon’. Through out the major cities a young girl clad in plate can be seen stomping gruffly from shop window to notice board – pinning the poster to anything that doesn’t move … and, from time to time … things that do move.
[[ WTF are you on about Fiha?:
Based on the level of prodding from various parties and subsequent research with select individuals it has come to my attention that it might be a fun idea, to start up story night once again.
After asking around it seems Saturday night isn't a raiding night for most people and so that's when I’m holding it: Saturday nights, 7:30pm server time.
There will be room for those who wish to 'sponsor' the night to set their own theme, hold debate, give speeches, recite verse, perform a play, sing a song, do a little dance or make a little love to do so - if I am informed at least three days prior. How do you know if you wish to be a sponsor or host? If your character is making a move in local politics, if your guild wants to promote a themed event, if you and your friends are planning a large plot line etc - then this is the space for you to do it in.
I of course welcome the horde to attend such events but as always I advise you do so at your own risk. While the new argent tournament encourages an armistice of sorts between what were traditionally warring parties - I sadly can not bestow this buff (or debuff, how ever you look at it.) and there for am not held responsible for the actions of those who still have the blood lust in them. I will of course encourage civility (this is an open event) and expect those who attend to keep their weapons and battle chickens sheathed.
To help the event run smoothly I have one or two things I’d like for you to keep in mind:
- Think before you type: do you really, i mean really need to make the only very slightly amusing ooc (( )) quip you're about to make ... do you really? no, no you don't actually ... join a party or make a whisper. to be perfectly frank, it's possibly the most rude and disruptive thing you can do out side of dropping a duel flag in the middle of some one else's sonnet. no one's interested.
- Be patient with new role players: I’m not suggesting every son of Arthas gets a free pass - but if some one types a little slower than you might like or slips up on their lore a little, help them - don't hound them.
- Be creative: we love hearing poems, stories and songs but if you want to bring something for 'show and tell' or to perform a bare knuckle fighting demonstration or perform a magic act - then be prepared, be organized and come along! anything out of the norm is great!
- Griefing, bastardry, chronic flatulence etc will not be tolerated: I’ll ask you in a polite whisper to tone it down and if it doesn’t work? I’ll just encourage people to /ignore.
- Leave your ego at the door: I know we have a lot of people who love to rp racists, jerks, totally evil space vampires and crooks - but you're attending an open rp event, not everyone is going to know to tremble before you or toss rose petals at your feet, there for you don't need to evil it up the entire night. it's a laid back social gathering, not a space for your next cultist worship ceremony (unless you let me know 3 days prior =D )
- Spread the word: please, invite anyone you like to attend! make an alt specifically for the purpose of attending, let your guildies know, use the rp channels, drag your husband along, bribe a pack of noobs from Northshire or invent your own robotic companion - the more, the merrier
If you have any questions - send me a letter in game to Fiha or feel free to approach me ICly. If you can not find me - please contact Sullivan or Merlet who are being peachy keen and helping me out]]
